DIY or Professional Disinfection Service: Which Should I Choose?

In these times of the COVID-19 pandemic, cleaning your home or business is not enough to keep household germs at bay. You need to disinfect your space regularly to protect everyone. Not just from germ-borne diseases but from coronavirus infection as well. This you can do with homemade solutions or hiring a professional disinfection service in Singapore.

But is DIY disinfection effective in killing germs, specifically COVID-19? Or, should you just leave the disinfecting to the experts? Keep reading to find out!

The battle with household germs

Fighting germs will never end. It is an ongoing battle with the microbes having the advantage. They can be anywhere at once while you can only disinfect one area at a time. You can also get tired of cleaning but they aren’t.

A homemade disinfectant with powerful germ-killing properties can help. But germs can still survive and multiply. They will likely spread everywhere, mostly to surfaces that get touched often.

DIY solutions to kill germs

Mixing hot water and soap is a common solution for removing some germs. It might be enough for certain surfaces but, not for germ hot spots. Luckily, there are lots of homemade disinfectants you can try..

Two DIY disinfectants you can make at home

1. Natural Lysol Substitute Cleaner

It is made by combining 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup Vodka (look for 180 proof), 25 drops Wild Orange Essential Oil, 15 drops Rosemary Essential Oil, 15 drops Lavender Oil, and 15 drops of Eucalyptus Essential Oil. Mix them all in a bowl and transfer them to a glass spray bottle. Shake and spray to the surface that gets touched a lot.

2. Natural All-Purpose Disinfectant

To create this concoction, combine in a bowl one cup white vinegar, one cup water, 20 drops Tea Tree essential oil, 20 drops Lemon essential oil, and two tablespoons rubbing alcohol. Swirl them together and transfer them to the spray bottle. Shake and spray on bathroom surfaces and counters. Leave for a few minutes then wipe with a cloth.

DIY disinfection vs professional disinfection service

The COVID-19 is resurging in many countries worldwide including Singapore. With this health risk not slowing down, it is a must to implement extra precautionary measures. And that includes regular disinfection. You can disinfect your home or business on your own but it may not be done properly. If disinfecting is not that good, you’ll likely compromise the health of everyone.

Advantages of a professional disinfection service provider

  • Compared to a highly-trained disinfection service in Singapore, you can miss spots and germs will keep on spreading.
  • You are not equipped with industrial materials and equipment to thoroughly clean and disinfect your property.
  • Less risk to yourself or anyone because you don’t have to spend more time in potentially contaminated areas.
  • You can reduce disinfection costs in the long run because you will not buy cleaning chemicals and will not incur expenses due to germ-borne diseases.

Takeaway

DIY disinfection cannot guarantee that bacteria and viruses are removed from your property properly and effectively. Whereas an expert in disinfection service and pest control in Singapore like Greencare can give you peace of mind. Germs are killed successfully and you keep everyone in your home or business safe and coronavirus-free.
